Personal Bio

The past 14 years I have been working with European research and innovation programs and projects. I have been dealing with socio-economic challenges such as competitiveness, inclusion, multilingualism and access to information. The science and technology areas I have dealt with include language technologies and semantic technologies, cognitive systems, statistical data processing and modeling, interfaces and interaction. Our future challenges in the "Data Value Chain" unit include: creating a functioning market and re-use infrastructure for Big Data, Open Data, Linked Data, and harnessing and integrating language technologies, analytics and visualisation technologies to create the best value from data. Another challenge is to create a single European (and, why not, global) online market and information space without language barriers, by supporting a balanced combination of skilled linguists, smart automation and new business models.
