Tagmatica has been created in 2002 by Gil FRANCOPOULO who is a recognized expert in Natural Language Processing (NLP). He has worked in the NLP technology for two decades in standardization, dictionaries, parsers, language detection, thematic computation, similarity detection and document clustering.
The main part of the human knowledge being incorporated within texts, the aim is to parse these texts in order to extract the syntactic structures, the named entities, quotations and/or numerical indicators for corpus synthesis. Whereas most competitors just apply pattern matching rules on small fragments of texts, Tagmatica's tools make a full parse. The challenge was to implement tools that are able to parse tens of millions of words in a reasonable time.
