EU Funding Opportunities
In Horizon 2020, language technologies are part of the "Big Data Value Chain". In the Horizon 2020 ICT Work Programme 2016/17, an introduction on page 5 refers to "Application of language technologies is supported under topic ICT-14, 15 and 16 (Big Data PPP)" and encourages the use of language technologies for human-to-human and human-to-machine interaction and communication. The 2017 call is currently open, deadline 25 April 2017.

A big data PPP networking session took place on 26 September 2016 at the Proposers Day in Bratislava.
A new DG CNECT unit, "Learning, Multilingualism, and Accessibility" (Unit G.3) exists since 1 July 2016. A draft programme for Horizon 2020 Work Programme 2018/19 will include funding opportunities under the heading: ICT-38-: A multilingual, inclusive Next Generation Internet.
Another potential opportunity is the CEF - Connecting Europe Facility. A call for proposals (CEF-TC-2016-3) was opened on 20 September 2016 including Automated Translation with an indicative budget of 6.5 MEUR but closed in December 2016.
